Author information, book resources, images, and media inquiries
Welcome to the Scratch Writing Media Kit, a collection of resources for journalists, reviewers, podcasters, booksellers, event organizers, bloggers, and anyone interested in covering my books or the work of Scratch Writing Press.
I'm Matt De Reno, an independent author and publisher based in the Pittsburgh area and the author of The Midas Files, a science-fiction thriller series that mixes technology, conspiracy, history, mystery, and a healthy dose of Pittsburgh.
This section is a work in progress, much like Scratch Writing itself. As the Press and The Midas Files continue to grow, I'll be adding downloadable materials and useful background information here.
Available Media Resources
The Media Kit will serve as the central home for materials such as:
- Author bios in short and extended versions
- Author photographs suitable for web and print
- Book cover images
- The Midas Files series information
- Book descriptions and publication details
- Scratch Writing Press information
- Interview topics and suggested questions
- Press releases and announcements
- Links to reviews, interviews, and media coverage
Where appropriate, materials provided here may be downloaded and used for legitimate editorial, promotional, bookselling, event, and media coverage related to Matt De Reno, The Midas Files, and Scratch Writing Press.
About the Author
Matt De Reno is the author of The Midas Files, a Pittsburgh-rooted science-fiction thriller series exploring the intersection of technology, history, conspiracy, and the unknown.
He is also the founder of Scratch Writing, Inc. and publishes through its independent imprint, Scratch Writing Press.
Beyond books, he develops Scratch Magazine, Scratch Writing Studio, and independent digital projects including Across Pittsburgh and Football Fan's Diet.
In other words, he has a difficult time leaving well enough alone.
Looking for an Interview or Guest?
I'm happy to consider interviews, podcasts, book discussions, local media appearances, author events, and conversations about topics related to my work.
Some subjects I'm particularly comfortable discussing include independent publishing, writing and worldbuilding, science fiction, artificial intelligence and emerging technology, Pittsburgh as a fictional setting, digital content creation, and the experience of building The Midas Files as an independent author.
If you're working on a story, podcast, event, or other project and think I might be a good fit, please get in touch.
Need Something That Isn't Here?
If you're looking for a particular image, biography, book detail, review copy, interview request, or other media resource that hasn't made its way into the Media Kit yet, use the Scratch Writing contact form and let me know what you need.
I'll be happy to help when I can.
Media inquiries, interviews, appearances, and review requests are welcome.
